Position Summary
Assist the Controller and the Accounting Department with various accounting duties, utilizing a specialized depth of knowledge in the financial accounting field, such as cost accounting, budgets, regulatory agency and government reports. Prepare, present, and interpret financial reports to senior management; adheres to tax laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the bank.
Job Description
- Actively participate in the monthly closing of the general ledger for all branches.
- Interpret and analyze financial information and present results directly to senior management.
- Improve existing processes and implement new processes within the accounting department as it relates to policies and procedures.
- Backup or Prepare the Call Report and Regulatory Reports for both the FDIC and Federal Reserve.
- Perform regulatory capital calculation on a quarterly basis and assist with capital management (to include capital stress testing).
- Knowledge of interest rate risk principles is preferred.
- Serve as backup to daily FRB settlement.
- Learn process for borrowing from FHLB, FRB, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of FCB’s Annual Report.
- Assist in the review of reconcilements for all departments.
- Review of expense checks and ACH payments for all bills payable weekly.
- Perform diverse accounting functions, including the preparation of general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
- Serve as the primary contact for certain internal and external auditors, managing request lists and corresponding with auditors as necessary.
- Provide assistance to the Controller.
- Responsible for the preparation of profitability analysis for the Bank branches and products.
- Manage the Bank’s Fixed Asset program
- Assist in the oversight of the Bank’s Ameriprise Non-Deposit Program
- Serve as a resource to less experienced recon staff through reviews of work performed.
- Occasionally required to plan, assign, and monitor various projects.
- Assist with Budget process.
- Assist with Investments.
- Oversee/monitor public funds and pledging.
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Knowledge of accounting principles
Minimum Requirements
- Three or more years accounting, audit, or examiner work experience
- Experience in banking or other financial institution experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Some supervisory experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent- accounting preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
